Keeping Your Life Inline with Godly Principles

As Martial Artist, we focus on the mind, body, and spirit.  We inform students or potential students that we teach these principals in order that the student can have control over his or her actions.  We teach that through discipline, these principles can bring a person’s life into harmony.  To some extent, that is true.  But does it work for everybody?

The Three Attributes of Mankind
We as Martial Artist always say, “Mind, body, and spirit” as if that is the order of how mankind was created.  The mind being the first, body being the second, and spirit being the third!

Genesis 1:26-27
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Note: At the point of creating mankind, God only created the spirit in His image, and the mind in His likeness.  In this next verse from the Holy Bible, you will see that after forming man, He placed in man the spirit and mind into the nostrils of man which is the “breath of life”.

Genesis 2:7
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being.

Note: God formed man through the formation of dust and by doing so, made mankind with a physical flesh and bone body.

Genesis 2:21-23
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.  23 And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”

The Order of Attributes
The order can seem confusing to someone who is a babe in the Word of God.  Although the image and likeness was mentioned first by God, when concerning mankind, it wasn’t until after the flesh was formed that the Almighty Creator breathed the spirit of life into the nostrils of the body.

The Physical / Flesh / Body
Through the physical aspects of Martial Arts, some of the things students learn are self-defense, coordination, and focus as they establish a better physical conditioned body.  Our physical body is visible for the entire world to see.  As human-beings, we can appear to be doing well or looking well to those who see us on the outside but on the inside, broken down.  A person may not feel good concerning their outer appearance.  They may be dealing with a sickness or disease whether visible on the outside of their body or experiencing the effects of it on the inside.  These things can cause a person’s physical body (the flesh) to control their mind.

The Mental / Soul / Mind
The mind can not be seen physically.  It can not be physically touched by any kind of matter.  It is what’s connected to our soul thus making it invisible to others.  The mind is also connected to a physical brain which causes electro stimulation for mankind to adopt, learn, and store information through memory.  The mind causes a person to think, dream, and move things from the thought process into reality.  Your mental well being has a tendency to become confused between siding with the flesh (sinful nature of mankind) and siding with the spirit (mankind’s life connection to God).  This becomes an opposition for the mind.

The Spiritual / Spirit
Our spirit is the life force which keeps breath into the body.  It too can not be visibly seen, and can not be touched by physical hands or any kind of matter.  The spirit that lives inside each human is our direct connection with the Almighty Creator God.  We receive evidence of this when we are about to do something wrong but the conscience tells us not to do it.  It is not the mind telling us not to do something evil or to do something good.   When the conscience is speaking to us, it is the Creator speaking to our spirit as a guidance of revealing ‘what’s right’ and ‘what’s wrong’.  It is our life force.  The “Conscience” is also our spiritual connection to the Creator God.  This is how He knows every thought of each human-being!  Without the spirit of life living within us, the flesh and mind can not exist.

1 Corinthians 15:45-47
And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam (Jesus Christ) became a Life-Giving Spirit.  However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.  (This natural and spiritual is concerning mankind) The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from Heaven (Jesus Christ; Spirit made Flesh and back to Spirit while still able to have Flesh and Bone if He chooses to).

Luke 24:36-43
36 Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.” 37 But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit. 38 And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.” 40 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41 But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?” 42 So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. 43 And He took it and ate in their presence.

Three as One
So the order can be received as the Body, Mind, and Spirit or in another way, it can be received as the Flesh, Soul, and Spirit.  Mankind’s existence can not exist without having these three parts (persons), and although we have these three important parts, we exist as one.  When we see one another, we acknowledge that we are looking at one person.  We may say, “Look at that woman” or “Look at that man” while noticing that we’re looking at only one person.  The truth is that we are three persons existing as one.  These three can be at conflict with the other.  The mind in most cases, get confuse by trying to decide if it should follow the flesh or follow the spirit.  The flesh, if not in line with God, can mislead a person on the road to destruction but the spirit can lead a person on the road to Life.
Likewise, just as mankind has three persons, the same is with the Almighty Creator.  He exist as the Father, Son (Jesus the Messiah; Yeshua or Yahushua Ha’Mashiak), and Holy Spirit (Spirit of Truth or Comforter).  They are not three Gods separated from the other!  They are three Persons existing as One God.

Spirits

Mankind’s Spirit
The spirit of man is either dead or alive to the things of God. Due to the “Fall of Man” mentioned in Genesis Chapter 3 of the Holy Bible, mankind experiences a physical death and is naturally born with a sinful nature. Sin (disobedient to God’s Word) causes us to be separated from God, therefore causing us to be spiritually dead to the things of God.  In Romans Chapter 6:23 it says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is Eternal Life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Our spirit becomes alive when we are born again.  What makes us born again is when we are baptized in the Water, and of the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ as mentioned in the Gospel of John Chapter 3 of the Holy Bible.
As it is written in the Book of Colossians Chapter 2:13 “And you, being dead in your trespasses and the un-circumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses (forgiven you of all your sins when you are summiting to His Will)”.  His (Almighty God through Jesus Christ) Grace and Mercy cover those who choose to receive Him as Lord and Savior, and live and follows His Word daily.

Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Divine Power of the Eternal Father (Creator God).  He is our connection to God which helps to guide our decisions from doing wrong.  The Holy Spirit is Omnipotent (All Powerful), Omnipresent (Everywhere at the same time), and Omniscient (All Knowing).  He is the Divine Spiritual Nature of God who reads the minds and heart of every living being on the face of the earth.
Through the Holy Spirit we receive positive traits of God such as: Integrity, Self-Control, Self-Discipline, Peace, Harmony, Joy, and Love.  Some of these traits are mentioned in the Book Galatians 5:22-26 which says, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.  Against such there is no law.  And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.  Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”

Spiritual Wellness
What is true Spiritual Wellness?

The path to spiritual wellness involves:
•    Meditation in the Holy Spirit
•    Prayer to the Almighty Creator of all things in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ
•    Affirmation that He died for us all while acknowledging that you belong to Him
•    Specifically practicing daily, your spiritual connection to the only Higher Power (Almighty Creator God through Jesus Christ).

Spiritual wellness is also about having compassion for others, having the capacity to love and forgive those who wronged us regardless of what they’ve done.  It’s about selflessness, joy, and the fulfillment in life which helps us enjoy our spiritual health.  Our religious faith, values, beliefs, principles, and morals define our spirituality.  Everyone engaged in the process of spiritual wellness, becomes willing and able to transcend to a higher level in the One who created us all.  It causes one to question the meaning and purpose of our life as well as the lives of others. In addition, we seek to find harmony between that which lies within us as well as the social and physical signs which is visibly seen on the outside.  What is your purpose in life?

Are you engaged in the process of Spiritual Wellness?
•    Do you have spiritual wellness?
•    Do you make time for relaxation each day?
•    Do you make time for meditation in prayer each day?
•    Are your decisions and actions guided by your positive values?
•    Are you searching for Spiritual Truth in the One who created you?

If your answer is "No" to any of the questions asked above, it is an indication that there’s an area in your life where you need to improve the state of your Spiritual Wellness.
